Free Sleep Health Webinar
26th May 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
This Lunch & Learn session will go over the importance of good sleep health with Megan McGrane from Connolly Hospital’s Sleep Clinic.
Sleep Health is Megan’s speciality and passion. Megan aims to emphasise good sleep health, discussing why we sleep, what exactly happens when we sleep and what is a “normal sleep pattern”, focusing on REM sleep and the Circadian Rhythm.
COVID19, working from home, and lifestyle changes the last year has caused major disruptions to people’s livelihood. Stress, anxiety, and trouble “switching off” has disrupted many sleep cycles and caused periods of poor sleep quality. Megan will aim to educate on sleep hygiene and how this can benefit in such turbulent times.
In addition, sleep disorders in Ireland are quite prevalent, and many go undiagnosed, which lead to severe adverse effects to both physical and mental health. Megan will touch on conditions and highlight the warning signs and symptoms and the risks associated with poor sleep quality. By the end of the talk, you will become enlightened to the complexity yet vitality of sleep and understand what good quality sleep is. Megan will be discussing sleep in a scientific/diagnostic fashion rather than a therapeutic approach.
